INTERNSHIPS/WORKING STUDENTS

We are looking for Interns/Working students  WITH riding experience.

You get your housing paid, your utilities  and your meals while you learn and polish your skills. There is no tuition, no books or dormitory expenses. Living arrangements on the farm will be provided as part of the internship. Interns will be given $40 per week for spending money.

The ideal intern/assistant will be 18 (preferably 21 years) of age or older and be willing to learn all aspects of horse management including, breeding, starting colts, and training performance horses. Since we focus on reining horses, there will be opportunities to learn how the basic performance horse skills relate to training reining horses.

Duties of the assistants include total care of horses and barn including such tasks as, riding horses, starting colts, feeding and watering, medicating, grooming, lunging,  and clipping. The assistants help break the young colts, ride older horses, assist at shows, etc. (amount of riding depends upon the amount of experience the assistant has).

The owner of the farm is the coordinator of an Equine Education program offered by a community college three miles from the farm. Interns will be involved in assisting the coordinator in some of the aspects of the college program. In addition, interns will be encouraged to enroll in the college courses focused on equine education

Please email us information about you, your experience with horses, etc. A short resume will be fine.
